You can find an app on your phone for pretty much anything these days. Apps for fitness, games, calendars and organization, just to name a few. Did you know there are also several apps that you can earn money from? Apps where you can upload your grocery receipts, there are apps where you take surveys for points, even apps for investing. If you are looking for ways to earn a little extra money from home, there are many ways to do it with these easy money-making apps.

Receipt apps
One of the easiest ways to earn money from apps are the ones that you upload your receipts to. Grocery store receipts, department store receipts, receipts from restaurants, and even travel purchases. The way most of these apps work is super easy! You take a picture of your receipt with the app after you’ve gone shopping. You can earn through online purchases too by either shopping through the app or connecting your email or online accounts. You will earn points which you can use for rewards such as gift cards or cash back. Here are my favorite ones that I use.
Ibotta
The Ibotta app is one of my favorite ways to earn a little extra cash. Whether it is grocery shopping, eating out at restaurants, or shopping online, there are many different ways you can earn money. You can then have your earnings transferred to a gift card such as Amazon, Target or your favorite restaurant, or you can transfer your money to a PayPal account. Fetch Rewards
This is another grocery receipt app and it’s one of the easiest to use and earn points. All you need to do is take a picture of your receipt with the app and watch your points add up. You will earn a minimum of 25 points with each receipt you upload. Depending on the products you buy, you may earn bonus points. I’ve earned up to 2000 points per receipt before. You aren’t limited to just grocery receipts. You can upload any receipt to earn points. You can start using your points for gift cards once you have 3000 points.

Receipt Pal
This app takes a little longer to earn points with, but it’s very easy to use. It takes no time at all to scan and upload receipts, so I figure why not earn any points I can? With the Receipt Pal app, every picture of a receipt you take helps you fill up “cards” on the app. Online purchases count too. Be sure to connect your Amazon account and email account to earn even more points for your online purchases. You earn 100 points for each card you fill up. Once you have 2200 points you can start using them towards gift cards. You can also earn entries into sweepstakes they do every month.
Shopkick
This is kind of a fun and unique way to earn points. And it’s not just a receipt scanning app. You can earn points just by walking into a store. When you’re in the store you can also scan the barcode of certain products and earn points. If you purchase anything on Shopkick’s list for that store, scan your receipt and earn more points. Wait, there’s more! You can watch short little videos on the app to earn even more points. The videos are usually ads for products, but they are only about 30 seconds long. It’s an easy way to earn a few extra points here and there.

Receipt Hog
If you can’t tell, I happen to love receipt apps. 🙂 This is another easy way to earn money and points from your receipts. Just scan in any receipt to earn points. You can also take surveys and connect your email, Amazon account, and store rewards cards to automatically earn points from your online purchases. Redeem your points for cash, gift cards, or other items.

Investment Apps
Stash
If you are curious about investing, but not sure where to start, the Stash app is a really easy way to get started. You can have money automatically transferred from your bank account to your Stash account once a week, once a month, or whatever works for you. It doesn’t have to be a large amount, I started with $5 a week. Every little bit helps and adds up. This is not a get rich quick money maker. Investing is a long term way to earn money. Stash offers great advice on investing and even saving for retirement.

Survey Apps
Survey apps are fun and easy to use. The surveys vary in length of time and you can choose which ones you would like to take. Answer a few questions about products or pretty much anything and earn points! You then can use those points towards gift cards or have money transferred directly to your bank account. This is something you can easily do when you have a few minutes of spare time or while you are watching TV.
Swagbucks
Swagbucks has been around for awhile and now that they have an app, there are even more ways you can earn money. Swagbucks is most popular for it’s surveys. Spend a few minutes answering questions in a survey and earn points for gift cards. Swagbucks offers gift cards for just about everything. Anything from Visa gift cards to Amazon gift cards, gift cards for stores, restaurants, even travel! Earn points to help pay for your next vacation. You can also earn points by shopping through Swagbucks, searching the web, watching videos and uploading your receipts.

Survey Junkie
If you are into taking surveys or are looking for a way to earn a little extra money, check out the Survey Junkie app. There are surveys that take a few minutes to complete up to around 20 minutes. This is something that you can easily do in your spare time or while watching TV. You can use your points towards gift cards or have your earnings transferred to your PayPal or bank account.
Other apps you can make money from
Dosh
Dosh is another cash back app that is a little unique and different. You simply download the app, connect your credit card, then use that card wherever you shop. Whether it’s shopping at your favorite store, going out to eat, or even filling up your gas tank, you can earn a certain percentage of cash back on each purchase. Once you earn at least $25 cash back you can have it transferred to your bank, PayPal or Venmo. You can even earn with other ways to pay like Venmo or Jelli.

Rakuten
If you like shopping online then this is the app for you. Once you download the Rakuten app, just shop at your favorite online retailers through the app and earn instant cash back. Download any or all of these apps and start earning a little extra money on the side today. These aren’t get rich quick plans, but like I said, they are pretty fun and easy ways to make some extra money from home. Depending on how much time you put into using these apps you could earn anywhere from a few dollars to a couple hundred dollars a month.

I have tried a few of these apps. My spouse gets a Rakuten check in the mail now and then. I have a Stash account and enjoy dabbling in a few stocks. Nothing major, but it’s also a great way to set aside some slush money! Thanks for all the tips!
