I have been making this macaroni and cheese dish for years. It’s my kids’ favorite meal that I make. They call it the “real” macaroni and cheese and prefer it over the boxed kind any day! With a buttery cracker crust topping it is the perfect comfort food.
This macaroni and cheese dish is easy to throw together and pop in the oven. It usually takes 30 minutes for it to cook, but you might have to adjust the temperature and cook time depending on your oven. When we moved to a new house with a different oven, I had to adjust the oven temperature to 375 and cook time to 35 minutes. I also let it rest for 10 minute after taking it out of the oven to give it time to firm up.
