As you know, I love coffee. I love it in all forms, but I especially love iced coffee drinks. While I would love to visit my local coffee shop every day for a coffee drink, that’s just not possible in the budget. Last year I started getting curious about making my own coffee drinks at home.

I started doing some research on how I could make my iced coffee drinks at home. I made my own cold brew, but sometimes I got a craving for something a little more special than that, like an iced white mocha. For some reason the thought of learning how to use a regular espresso machine scared me. What if I messed it up or couldn’t learn how to do it right?
Then I kept seeing commercials for a Ninja Coffee Bar. I was intrigued. With this machine I could make my iced coffee with a push of a button. And not just iced coffee. I could also make hot coffee in a single cup or a whole pot of coffee if we needed it. All with one machine! This sounded like a good option and just what I was looking for, so my husband and kids got me a Ninja Coffee Bar for Mother’s Day last year.
I love it and have gotten a lot of use out of it in the last year. I make myself an iced white mocha every day. My husband also loves it because he can make himself a cup of hot coffee in his travel mug before he leaves for work every morning.
Here are some features that I love about the machine:
- Many different options in one machine – you have the option to make your coffee 4 different ways and in 4 different sizes.
- You can make a regular cup or travel cup size of coffee.
- If you like your coffee a little stronger, there’s a “rich brew” option.
- You can make a full or half pot of coffee.
- Then there’s my favorite option – the iced coffee button. This will make a perfect shot of strong coffee for your iced coffee drinks.
- If you like your iced coffee even stronger there’s a “specialty brew” button that will make a nice, rich shot of coffee. You can choose the cup or travel mug size with the iced coffee button depending on how much you want.
- Reusable coffee grounds basket – it comes with a mesh coffee grounds basket. Each time you make coffee, you just dump the grounds in the garbage when you’re done, rinse out the basket and you are good to go for next time!
- Milk frother – if you want to get that frothy milk look and texture that they do in coffee shops, you can with the milk frother that it comes with. It just takes a few pumps of warm milk in this handy little device. Your coffee drink will look and taste just like you got it from a coffee shop.
- Easy to clean – this machine is very easy to clean. All it takes is some white vinegar and the press of a button. Whenever the “clean” light comes on, I follow the directions on how much water and white vinegar to fill the water reservoir with, make sure the coffee pot is in place, and press the “clean” button. It takes about an hour for the machine to clean and descale. Once that’s done it will instruct you to “flush” it. You just fill the reservoir with water and press the “clean” button again. This part only takes a few minutes. I usually flush it again by brewing a pot of water. I just like to make sure my coffee won’t taste like vinegar.
- Recipes for coffee drinks – I love how it comes with a book full of recipes for coffee drinks. There are recipes for hot, iced and blended drinks. I’ve tried a few of them and they are delicious!
A few other things I love about the Ninja Coffee Bar are:
- The price – You can find this machine anywhere from $50 up to $200 depending on the model. To me that is much more reasonable than spending a few hundred dollars on an espresso machine.
- Ease of use – As I mentioned above, this machine is so easy to use. Depending on what type of coffee drink you would like, all it takes is a push of a button.
- Portability – Since the Ninja Coffee Bar is not much bigger than a regular coffee pot, it is very portable. I have taken it with us on trips to the beach and camping trips. That way I can have my coffee anywhere!
There are a few different options and sizes for the Ninja Coffee Bar, but this one is the most cost effective and has everything you need.
I have loved making my own coffee with this machine for the past year. My friends have loved the drinks I’ve made them with it too. If you want to save money on coffee drink purchases, this little machine will start to pay for itself once you start using it regularly.
